Shock at the Conservatives view on Covid

April 3, 2021 10:06 AM

On BBC Newsnight the Conservative Leader of South Norfolk Council John Fuller said "let's not have a system whereby if you catch Covid you get £500 that's an incentive to spread the disease."

Liberal Democrat Group leader on Norfolk County Council Steff Aquarone said "The idea that people would want to get a disease that could kill them for just £500 is inhumane. It is deeply insulting to all those people who have lost a loved one and to everyone who has sacrificed so much to follow the rules despite the financial cost.

This is an international pandemic and the Conservatives in Norfolk do not seem to live in the same world as the rest of us. These are not the Norfolk values of empathy and kindness that I hold dear and want to see shared across the county.

It doesn't have to be like this. At the local elections on 6 May vote Liberal Democrat to remove the Conservatives from office so that we can have a better Norfolk after the pandemic built on the right values."
