Conservative cuts pile pressure on nurses and put patients at risk.

Patients faced cancelled operations and long delays at A&E as the NHS struggled through another winter crisis.

Almost 1 in 4 people were being made to wait more than four hours at A&E - the highest number on record. And Theresa May has been forced to apologise for tens of thousands of delayed operations.

Many local NHS trusts are now on high alert due to staffing shortages and a lack of beds caused by Conservative failure to invest in social care.

Liberal Democrat Leader Vince Cable said:

"Every day seems to bring more bad news about the state of the health service and the blame lies firmly at the Government's door.

"Despite an ageing population and growing demand, the Conservatives refuse to provide the support the NHS needs."

Lib Dem MP for North Norfolk Norman Lamb added:

"We were the only party at the last election to offer an ambitious, credible plan to give the NHS and social care additional resources - through a penny on income tax."

1p on Income Tax to fund NHS

The Liberal Democrats would put a penny on Income Tax to raise an additional £6bn a year, £4bn of which would be spent on the NHS and £2bn on social care.

This would mean millions more for the NHS in Mid Norfolk, ensuring local people get high-quality care when they need it.
